Hi, I'm Dayo.
I'm a frontend developer with over 3 years of experience and a background in product design. I am the primary UI Engineer at Dojah where I work alongside a team focused on building an advanced AI-powered technology that makes it easy for businesses to onboard users at scale. My work involves building and maintaining the company's design system, creating and maintaining the company's website, and building and maintaining the company's internal tools.
I studied Medical Laboratory Science at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, but I found my passion in building software. My journey into the tech world began with a simple yet magical idea: building "our" own games. From that moment, I was hooked.
Today, I'm a bit of a unicorn. I'm a frontend developer but I also identify as a product designer. I'm a designer who codes. I'm an engineer who designs. I learned how to code because I wanted to build things that people would love to use. And I learned how to design because I wanted to participate in the entire product development process.
And even though I no longer practice as a medical professional (I failed you, mom 😅), I still find myself applying the same principles of research and experimentation to my work as a developer.
My passion for this craft has driven me to co-found two open-source projects: album colors (a visual directory that draws colour palette inspiration from music album covers); and Sitesnap.design (a curated collection of websites designed by Africans), write technical articles, and mentor aspiring developers. These initiatives show my commitment to the developer community and my ability to build practical tools that improve people's lives through quality software.
I have experience working with a variety of technologies, including JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and Node.js. I also have experience working with design tools and methodologies including Figma, Adobe XD, and user research techniques. My ability to work seamlessly across the stack and my passion for building inclusive, user-friendly, and intuitive user experiences makes me a great fit for any team.
When I'm not coding, you can find me playing FIFA, listening to music, reading self-help books, or helping other developers solve problems on Discord. I also enjoy playing the acoustic guitar and watching horror movies. Whether it's web development, design, or just a friendly chat about coding and music, feel free to connect with me on Twitter or shoot me an email.
